Last Minute Preparation Tips for JEE Mains Exam

As the JEE Mains exam date approaches closer, students take the last stride in their preparation to become exam ready. Amidst this, they start experiencing anxiety, nervousness, excitement and stress but it is crucial for students to stay grounded and calm to give their best during the JEE Mains exam.

How effectively you use the last few days of exam preparation can play a crucial role in determining your success or failure in the exam. Oftentimes, the difference between success and failure in the exam is the attention paid to minute things that contribute therein.

On that note, let’s talk about some important tips that you should keep in mind during these last days to ensure success in the JEE Mains exam.

Don’t Start Anything New

Students are advised to not start with a new topic just a few before the exam. Instead, try and focus on building your strengths. They can do this by getting familiar with every type of question pertaining to the topics that you have studied. You must practice questions, attempt mock tests and revise those topics many times.

Make sure you have not left any stone unturned in the topics that you have covered previously. For instance, In physics, if you are going through ‘Wave Optics’ then you must have an in-depth knowledge of every concept and done every single question on huygens principle, Reflection and refraction of plane waves, the doppler effect, Polarization of Light, Interference, Diffraction and others.

Eat Healthy and Take Adequate Sleep

This is the most basic and crucial thing to keep in mind if you want to end up feeling unwell just before the most important day for your future. Avoid any type of junk food, eat healthy and stay fit.

Ensure that you are getting the right amount of quality sleep daily. Many times, students tend to overexert themselves before the exam as they have less time left to study which results in sleep deprivation and exhaustion. Depriving oneself of sleep is a recipe for disaster and will result in fatigue and high-stress levels with a drop in concentration level.

Revise and Attempt Mock Test Regularly

The last few days before the exam should be dedicated to revision and attempting daily mock tests. Studying without revision is vain as it is a human tendency to forget things, therefore it is important to recall and revisit topics that you have studied earlier.

On the other hand, giving regular online mock tests improves accuracy and speed. Attempting regular mock tests lets students track their progress and allows them to analyze their performance as well as gives important inputs regarding their strengths and weaknesses. Students must increase the frequency of attempting mock tests as they get closer to the exam date.

Be Ready for Surprises

Students must remain mentally prepared for any kind of surprises including changes in exam date and exam pattern, the difficulty level of the exam, etc. Slight changes in details are incorporated in different competitive exams every year and JEE Mains is no exception. The candidates must remain ready and make note of these changes so that they can capitalize them.

Clear all Concept Related Doubts

Students at times become more focused on covering the entire syllabus and less concerned about how rock-solid their preparation is of the individual topics. One must make sure that one has a sound understanding of the fundamentals behind concepts in every topic.

Like Mathematics, concepts of one topic often form the base of concepts in another topic. For instance, one must study Wave Optics before starting with Sound Waves as concepts of the former lay the premise of concepts in the latter.
